Moxy Hotels - Case Study
McDermid Controls recently completed work on both the Moxy Glasgow Merchant City and Moxy Edinburgh Airport providing the building controls for each.
The Moxy Hotel brand launched into the UK market in 2016 and has continued to strengthen their footprint with the opening of two new hotels in Scotland.
Moxy Glasgow Merchant City , a 181 bedroom “Millennial-focused boutique” opened its doors in November 2018 and was the brand’s first hotel to open in a city centre location.
Moxy Edinburgh Airport opened in January 2019 and is a 230-bedroom hotel designed to appeal to both business and leisure travellers.
McDermid Controls were contracted to provide the skillful installation of heating and ventilation controls, safety measures and monitoring in both new Moxy hotels.
Using our extensive knowledge of BMS and Schneider Electric technology, we were able to provide the Moxy Hotels with everything they needed from the system design phase right through to installation.
Our job was to provide controls for the heating, chilled water plant, domestic hot water and the ventilation for bedrooms and Front of House for both hotels.
As well as providing the controls for the HVAC, McDermid Controls have developed a BMS capable of monitoring the building’s electricity, water and gas meters and a number of the building’s key status and faults.
A key success for us on this project was the set up of 3rd party interfacing to provide the ability to control the Air Handling Units via BACnet and also the ability to monitor the site’s electricity meters via Modbus.
