McDermid Controls is proud to have recently worked for the world-leading brand Fujifilm. Fujifilm Image Colorants are located in Grangemouth and are part of the Fujifilm Inkjet Business Division. They are at the forefront of developing and manufacturing high-performance inks, pigments and dyes with facilities to produce bespoke digital inks compatible with top printhead technologies.
McDermid Controls were appointed to upgrade the 5000 meters squared factory ventilation systems with high-efficiency Invertor Controlled Production Fans. The client was keen to reduce energy costs therefore, we provided set-back controls for non-production modes resulting in energy and cost savings of between 50-75%.
Fujifilm upgraded their existing plant ventilation to incorporate controls which save energy and increase efficiency. The new BMS installed allows the plant manager to remotely monitor the system from their SCADA HMI.
To maintain a constant airflow volume into the chemical plant, velocity grids were installed into the ductwork together with velocity pressure sensors and VSDs on the fans which can be adjusted based on set points at the SCADA HMI. The velocity grid monitors the filters and adjusts airflow to meet design requirements.
One master control panel was installed serving two platforms, each consist of two supply fans, a steam valve and filter monitoring. The entire system is controlled with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform which interfaces directly to FUJIFILM’s SCADA system and allows for direct client control.
