McDermid Controls Install BMS Controls Ahead of Maidenhill Primary Opening
Sitting at the heart of a brand-new community in Newton Mearns, Maidenhill Primary School opened its doors to its first intake of pupils in August 2019. The £12.5m school offers 444 primary places as well as 120 nursery places.
McDermid Controls were contracted to provide the controls for the heating, domestic hot water, ventilation and underfloor heating for the whole of the school and nursery.
McDermid Controls installed 3 control panels for this project in the boilerhouse, ventilation plant room and nursery. The entire system is controlled with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform.
As well as controlling the heating, DHW, ventilation and water, the system also monitors gas, water, electric and heat meters and various faults from the school sprinkler system and air conditioning units.
The main challenge on this project was the full integration of the various building systems to the main BMS which we successfully managed to complete including:
Interfacing via MODBUS to the various Rayleigh meters and Rehau underfloor heating manifolds
Network module MB Gateway was used to connect Helios-SALDA air handling units via BACNET IP
One of the most exciting aspects of this project was the interface to the schools amazing new 4.8-meter Nureva Smart Screen which will have the ability to link data from the BMS to the screen itself – stay tuned for more detailed information.
